Every UK business database we supply comes with a written accuracy guarantee. If a list falls below the levels below, we’ll put it right with replacement records or a pro rata refund.
This page explains exactly what we guarantee, what counts as an accurate record, how we measure it and how to make a claim. It summarises the accuracy terms in our terms and conditions. If the two ever differ, the terms and conditions apply.
What we guarantee
| Data field | Guaranteed accuracy | What it means in practice |
| Postal addresses | 98% | At least 98 in every 100 addresses reach the named business |
| Telephone numbers | 95% | At least 95 in every 100 numbers connect to the named business |
| Contact names | 95% | At least 95 in every 100 named contacts work at the business supplied |
| Email addresses | 95% | At least 95 in every 100 addresses accept delivery without a hard bounce |
The guarantee applies to each field you buy, measured separately across your whole order. It covers UK B2B data supplied by RD Marketing.
What counts as accurate
We want you to know exactly where the line sits, so here’s how we judge each field.
| Field | Counts as inaccurate | Does not count as inaccurate |
| Postal address | Returned by Royal Mail as “gone away”, “addressee unknown” or “business ceased trading”; incomplete or undeliverable address | Mail received but not passed to the named contact; business moved after we delivered your data |
| Telephone number | Number unobtainable or disconnected; number reaches a different business | No answer, voicemail, engaged tone, a gatekeeper or switchboard, or the business declining your call |
| Contact name | The named person has left the business or never worked there | Contact unavailable, on leave, or now in a different role at the same business |
| Email address | A hard bounce: the mailbox or domain does not exist | Soft bounces, spam filtering, blocks by the receiving server, out-of-office replies, no opens or no replies |
An email that doesn’t bounce but lands in spam is a deliverability issue, not a data accuracy issue. Our B2B email lists page explains what’s included in our email data.
How we measure accuracy
Accuracy is worked out for each field separately, across every record of that field in your order:
Accuracy = accurate records ÷ records supplied for that field × 100
A worked example
You buy 2,000 records with email addresses. Our 95% guarantee allows for up to 100 hard bounces.
- If 80 addresses hard bounce, accuracy is 96%. That’s within the guarantee.
- If 160 addresses hard bounce, accuracy is 92%. That’s 60 records below the guarantee, so we replace those 60 records or refund them pro rata.
The same method applies to postal addresses (98%), telephone numbers and contact names (95%).
What the guarantee doesn’t cover
The guarantee covers the accuracy of the data we supply. It can’t cover things outside our control, such as:
- Campaign results. Open rates, replies, leads and sales depend on your offer, message, timing and follow-up.
- Email deliverability. Inbox placement depends on your sending domain, authentication, content and volumes.
- Late claims. Claims must reach us within 30 days of delivery, or 6 weeks for returned post, while the data is still current.
- Changed data. Records you have edited, merged or re-imported into another system.
- Fields you didn’t buy, or free sample records.
- Use outside your licence. Your licence terms are set out in your quotation.
- Calls made without re-screening. We screen telemarketing data against TPS and CTPS before supply. Numbers can join those registers later, so re-screen regularly. Our TPS Checker can help.
You remain responsible for using the data in line with UK GDPR and PECR. Our GDPR guide explains the basics.
How to make a claim
- Contact us within 30 days of delivery (6 weeks for returned post). Email [email protected] or call 0191 406 6399, quoting your order or invoice number.
- Send your evidence.
- Email: a bounce report exported from your sending platform.
- Phone: a call log showing the numbers and outcomes.
- Post: the returned mail or a Royal Mail returns report.
- Contact names: a note of each record and what you found.
- We review it. We check the records against this guarantee and reply within 5 working days.
- We put it right. If your order falls below a guaranteed level, we’ll supply replacement records or refund the records below that level.
Remedies
- Replacement records that match your original targeting criteria. These come under your original licence.
- A pro rata refund for the records below the guaranteed level, at the price per record you paid.
Accuracy guarantee FAQs
What does a 95% accuracy guarantee mean?
At least 95 in every 100 email addresses, telephone numbers or contact names in your order are accurate. If fewer are, we replace the shortfall or refund it pro rata.
Why is the postal guarantee higher than email and phone?
Business addresses change less often than people and their email addresses, and they are checked against Royal Mail’s Postcode Address File. That lets us guarantee 98% for postal data.
Does the guarantee cover email deliverability?
No. It covers whether an address exists and accepts delivery. Whether your email reaches the inbox depends on your sending domain, set-up and content.
How long do I have to report inaccurate data?
30 days from the date we deliver your data, or 6 weeks for returned post.
Will I get a refund or replacement records?
We’ll provide one or the other, depending on what’s available. Replacement records match your original criteria, and refunds are pro rata at the price you paid per record.
Is telemarketing data TPS and CTPS screened?
Yes, before supply. Our screening covers you for 28 days from supply. After that, re-screen before calling.
Can I see the data quality before I buy?
Yes. We provide a free count before you buy, with sample records on request.
Ready to buy with confidence?
